Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Blade Ndizimade revealed in the May 2022 Budget Vote in Parliament that both schools and colleges in South Africa will soon see changes in the curriculum. This is in line with the government’s strategy to develop and train young South Africans for skills to boost the economy.
In basic education, new subjects are being added to the school curriculum. Tech subjects like robotics and coding are expected in the coming year.
In higher education and vocational training, university and college curricula are being reviewed. Added focus will be placed on skills development and vocational training, particularly in agriculture, ICT, and STEM.
