FirstRand foundation
FirstRand delivers on its purpose to build a future of shared prosperity through strategic social investment through its two foundations: the FirstRand Foundation (FRF) and the FirstRand Empowerment Foundation.
The FirstRand Foundation was established in 1998 as the primary vehicle through which FirstRand and its customer-facing businesses (FNB, RMB and WesBank) channel their corporate social investment.
Over two decades, the FRF has positioned itself as a forward-thinking corporate social investor and knowledge collaborator, contributing to South Africa’s development through capacity building, strategic partnerships, knowledge sharing and mainstreaming disability.
The FirstRand Foundation Trust manages donations to registered public benefit organisations, and the FirstRand Trust oversees projects without section 18A tax status. Following a comprehensive review of its impact, the FRF is now aligning its work more closely with FirstRand’s business strategy, a key hallmark of Strategic CSI.
