Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE)

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) advances socioeconomic development in South Africa with a focused, evolving corporate social investment (CSI) strategy. Its approach delivers sustainable impact, capacity building and empowerment in vulnerable communities.

The JSE’s CSI philosophy involves providing unrestricted funding to partner organisations, allowing them the flexibility to address their most pressing needs and innovate for greater impact.

The JSE channels its social investment through two primary vehicles:

  • JSE CSI partnerships: Multi-year and discretionary grants to a diverse portfolio of nonprofits and community organisations. The JSE supports a broad range of beneficiary organisations and discretionary fund partners. In 2025, the JSE contributed over R8 million to 28 partners.
  • JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF) Bursary Programme: A trust-funded bursary scheme supporting tertiary education for talented, financially disadvantaged students. The JEF Bursary Programme is a flagship initiative that provides comprehensive support for tertiary education to talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2025, the JSE invested R12 million to support the tuition and living costs of 51 students. The JSE’s partner-driven approach builds lasting capacity and community resilience.
