Absa’s corporate social investment (CSI) is driven by the company’s purpose of helping people achieve their ambitions in the right way. Committed to the principle of shared growth, the company delivers shareholder value while making a positive impact on society.
In addition to supporting learning and skills development programmes that activate the talents and enhance the employability of South African youth, Absa mobilises support for charities and local community initiatives that service disadvantaged communities.
Having established the Absa CSI Trust, a broad-based Black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) transaction, in 2023, 4% of the bank’s shareholding is allocated to funding social impact activities.
The Trust’s mandate is to deliver education and employability for young black South Africans, developing pathways that enable them to become economically active and ensure their transition to sustainable earning opportunities. Success enables a contribution to economic growth and social change in line with the bank’s ambition to be a force for good.
