Teach South Africa is a non-profit organisation that aims to respond to challenges in the education sector by recruiting, training and supporting graduates with the resources they need to be effective teachers. With maths and science being gateway subjects to improving the economy, the founding members knew that improving teaching in those subjects and addressing the teacher shortage would make an impact.

The organisation was developed by fellows of the African Leadership Initiative (ALI), who responded to the crisis of a shortage of teachers and quality education in 2009.
Numerous successes have come out of the programme. Teacher training is provided in various ways: mentorship, educational support material, online chat rooms and resource portal, networking opportunities, training in teacher and learner techniques, leadership development, and business management.
