Driven by science and rooted in hope, DKMS builds an ethnically diverse registry of blood stem cell donors, raises public awareness, and supports patients throughout their treatment journey. Because every patient deserves a match, our commitment spans continents and communities.
Every 27 seconds, someone in the world is diagnosed with blood cancer. For many, a stem cell transplant is their only hope for survival. However, finding a matching donor is incredibly difficult – especially for patients of African descent. From the day of diagnosis, we stand by patients and their families. Through donor registration events and community-driven drives, we empower people to play an active role in saving lives.
What we do:
- Educate and empower: We raise awareness about blood cancer, blood disorders, and treatments, helping individuals make informed decisions about stem cell donation.
- Diversify the registry: We actively recruit donors from diverse backgrounds to increase the chances of finding life-saving matches for all patients.
- Mobilise communities: We partner with schools, universities, and businesses to host impactful registration events, making it easy to become a potential lifesaver.
- Fundraise for growth: We raise vital funds to expand the size, diversity, and global reach of our registry.
- Advanced science and research: We invest in groundbreaking research and cutting-edge laboratory technology to enhance treatments and improve patient outcomes.
- Donor Support: We guide and support donors through every step of the process, from initial registration to the actual donation.
- Patient services: From diagnosis to recovery, we provide blood cancer patients and their families with essential resources and unwavering hope.
