Tuiniqua Care Centre

For over four decades, Tuiniqua Care Centre has been a cornerstone of compassion in the George community.

Established in 1985, during a period of profound social change in South Africa, Tuiniqua Care Centre was established as a nonprofit organisation dedicated to providing affordable housing and comprehensive care and support to the elderly. We have consistently upheld the dignity, wellbeing and independence of our residents, offering a continuum of care that includes independent living, assisted living, and a dedicated frail care unit.

Beyond accommodation, Tuiniqua provides access to professional healthcare services, emotional support from a social worker , and wellness facilities. Our Service Centre plays a vital role in promoting active ageing by offering nutritious meals, recreational programmes and opportunities for social connection. This helps residents remain engaged and supported within a caring community.

Tuiniqua’s mission is to enhance seniors’ quality of life by fostering a strong sense of belonging. Our goals include sustaining affordable, high-quality care, extending support to vulnerable elderly people without family networks, and strengthening partnerships with volunteers, donors and sponsors who share a commitment to elder care.

To continue providing safe, dignified and responsive care, Tuiniqua is currently undertaking facility upgrades, including improvements to bathrooms in the frail care unit, installation of an intercom system, and enhanced security and access control.
