The United Nations Association of South Africa (UNASA) is the South African arm of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA). We promote the goals and principles of the UN and its agencies through community engagement and work with civil society and government in South Africa.
Our activities include encouraging and facilitating research, organizing conferences, and initiating programs that raise awareness about the United Nations and its work within South Africa.
In the words of the late Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations,
“We need to make our States stronger and more effective at the national level. And we need to get them working together on global issues — all pulling their weight and all having their say. What are these global issues? I have grouped them under three headings, each of which I relate to a fundamental human freedom — freedom from want, freedom from fear, and the freedom of future generations to sustain their lives on this planet.”
