The Feenix Trust

The Feenix Trust is a Nonprofit and Public Benefit Organisation that was founded in 2017 as a response to #FeesMustFall. Feenix connects communities to fundraise for tertiary education students in South Africa. Feenix is experienced in crowdfunding, Skills Development and comprehensive Bursary Management. The Feenix Group believes that access to opportunity should not be dependent on wealth and exists to positively impact the lives of young people by sourcing collaborative solutions and partners to address the key issues that restrict access to higher education, employability and financial inclusivity.

WaFunda is a for-profit social impact enterprise, founded in 2019. WaFunda is on a mission to increase youth’s social and economic upward mobility through innovative, alternative and inclusive models. WaFunda was created to expand on the impact work of Feenix while diversifying income for the Group. Together, Feenix and WaFunda strive to be valuable players for social change. Feenix and WaFunda are legally distinct entities and maintain separate financials and governance.
